Copycat Taco Bell Crunch Wraps with an Air Fryer

When a craving for a copycat taco bell crunch wraps hits.. I got you! This recipe is really so easy. I really love to find ways to use my air fryer. It’s such a great tool I purchased and I’m always shocked how “fried” like it makes things. I am constantly looking for more recipes and more things that will utilize this kitchen appliance of mine. That being said you COULD make this in a frying pan at the end, but man… GET AN AIRFRYER 🙂 You will be happy you did.

And Tacos. I mean who doesn’t like tacos?  The amount the crunchy shell adds to you basic burrito is just something else. Next time you have tacos on the menu give this a try.

How to make Copycat Taco Bell CrunchWraps

I have included how I make my own taco seasonings and nacho cheese sauce. If you have premade version on-hand, you can of course use those.  This recipe is quick and easy to do and makes a nice tasty lunch or dinner. It can be customized to how a person likes their tacos. Someone doesn’t want tomatoes? No worry. Leave them out. You can also put the vegetables on at the end. To me it seems like taco bell puts them inside so its ok if they are a bit warm. Suit to your preference of course! I like to finish them off with a dab more of sour cream and then some avocados. Delicious!

Prep Time 5 minutes minutes
Cook Time 15 minutes minutes
Total Time 20 minutes minutes
Servings 6 Crunch Wraps

Equipment

  • 8x8 glass baking dish

Ingredients

  • 1 lbs ground chicken or beef
  • 1 Homemade Taco Seasoning
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 6 large flour tortillas 12 inch
  • 1 medium tomatoes
  • 1 cup nacho cheese
  • 2 cup lettuce shredded
  • 1 cup Mexican blend cheese shredded
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • Cooking Spray

Optional

  • 6 hard taco shells

Instructions

  • Preheat air fryer to 400.
  • Cook ground chicken/beef in a pan on the stove until no longer pink.
  • Add taco seasoning recipe and mix well.
  • Add a small amount of water to make sure mixture is covered in taco color/flavour.
  • Boil mixture, then reduce heat and allow to thicken.

In the center of each flour tortilla :

  • spread 2 tablespoons of nacho cheese
1 large spoon of chicken/beef mixture
    1 teaspoon of sour cream
    1/3 cup of lettuce
    a sprinkle of tomatoes
    1/3 cup of cheese
But really the amount of these depends on your personal taco ratio preference though.
  • Optional : If you are using the hard taco shell place it on top of the meat.
  • Fold mixture into a pinwheel. Fold one part into the center. One side at a time. Turn slightly to the right and fold that piece in. Repeat until you have a small pinwheel. Push down slightly to keep the folds "together". This will likely unfold if you do not rest a spoon on top while you way for them to cook. This might sound confusing but just give it a try.
  • Spray both sides with a quick mist of spray oil.
  • Place seam side down in airfryer.
  • Cook for 2 minutes. It should be a nice golden color.
  • Carefully with tongs or spatula, flip to the other flat side.
  • Cook for 2 more minutes.
  • Repeat with all wraps.
  • These will be hot hot hot, so serve with a knife and fork and allow to cool a bit before serving.
  • You can add additional toppings, avocado, sour cream etc when on the plate.

How to make Homemade Nacho Cheese Sauce

This recipe is really straightforward. Cut up, mix and eat. No need for the store bought stuff. If you would rather you could make your own cheese sauce by melting cheese, but I like Velveeta. Same goes with the salsa.
